We played a game of Jenga at Bible study recently, and it turned out simply amazing. The tight, four way competition, the tension rising move by move, the teetering tower, treacherous blocks sticking unexpectedly, and… you get the picture.
Here is a picture from just before it all fell, when we were 13 layers above starting height:
Originally the bottom layer was resting on the two outer blocks. I managed to push the whole stack over to rest on just one block—using the regulation single hand—to get hold of a bottom block. I thought I was such a hero.
But shortly after this photo was taken, Michele went and did the same thing from the tenth layer up. She slid one of the outer blocks over to the middle, then took the other block away. All single handed, exactly as per the rules. Michele is the new, all-time Jenga champion. I am not worthy.
Unfortunately, she was a bit too quick putting her newly freed block back on top, and there was the cliched mighty crash.
Ah beautiful, capricious Jenga! The game of no winners and only one loser.
